China Consumer 2023
China Consumer 2023 is CBBC's flagship consumer event of the year and will take place across two days - on the 4th and 5th of July in a Central London venue.
The event is a must-attend for any ambitious British consumer brand looking to make its mark in China.
Day One - 4th July:
Day One of the event will feature a full day Conference in which UK consumer brands can hear from leading experts on the China opportunity. Jam-packed with dynamic panel sessions as well as breakout workshops - exploring topics ranging from China's Metaverse to Chinese tourism and guides on how to set up in-market - the event offers an unrivalled opportunity for business networking and China strategy building.
Day Two - 5th July:
Day Two of China Consumer 2023 is composed of an online Meet the China Partner session, through which British brands can identify and create relationships with new Chinese buyers in a cost-effective way and develop these connections until their next China visit. Following the session, CBBC will offer follow-up support and China market insights to build on the connections made.
This will be followed by CBBC’s Chinese Influencers Programme - a truly unique chance for UK consumer brands to hear from Chinese Key Opinion Consumers. The session will bring together 6 dynamic London-based Chinese influencers to participate in targeted focus groups discussing any questions a UK brand or hospitality business has in relation to consumer perceptions, new product or experience launches, packaging, trends, shopping behaviour, and more.
Over 120 Delegates attended CBBC’s China Consumer 2022 Conference in London on 28th June 2022.
Attendees heard from a line-up of expert hosts and speakers on the future of retail in China, and current and future trends in the consumer sector. The event was composed of dedicated panel discussions as well as tailored breakout sessions, and offered cutting-edge insights and actionable takeaways for UK consumer brands in attendance, no matter what stage they were at on their China journey.
“What a wonderful gathering with like-minded enthusiasts about China from British brands and institutions. We face similar challenges, but we also have a shared passion.
China is not for the faint-hearted and it is not cheap to play the long-term game there. We must test and learn all the time, keep ourselves updated with insights and trends, and continuously refine how we do things.”
- Joanna Zhou, China Manager, Holland & Barrett
“China Consumer 2022’s Conference Day was a fabulous occasion in which to share insights and experiences with like-minded people. A big thank you to CBBC for organising, and I look forward to the next one!”
- Joy Isaacs, Founder & CEO at ARgENTUM apothecary
“China Consumer 2022’s Conference offered a full day of amazing speakers and experts sharing insights on China’s economic outlook, policy developments, retail space, consumer trends, digital marketing, Influencer marketing, E-commerce, social commerce, and sustainability.
Not only did I gain knowledge and practical skills on how to succeed in China from CBBC’s event, but I was also astonished by the energy, passion, and enthusiasm on display about this ever-changing market.
A big thank you to CBBC for such an inspiring day.”
- Kai-Chuan Chao, Cultural and Commercial Partnerships, East Asia Lead, The British Library
The second day of the China Consumer 2022 programme took place on 30th June in CBBC’s London office and online: with British Consumer brands offered a rare platform from which to meet with leading China Buyers and Chinese Influencers & Student Ambassadors.
UK Consumer brands interested in meeting some of China’s most successful retailers and distributors of UK consumer products joined the online session to meet and build relationships with four tailor selected pre-warmed buyers, with follow-up support from CBBC included post-event.
Participants in the Meet the Influencer session received valuable live feedback on their brand from nine dynamic London-based Chinese influencers & student ambassadors via an interactive session held in CBBC's London office based in Westminster.
“We are so happy to have built a relationship with the CBBC who has been giving us the most incredible guidance into the China Market. By participating in this programme and Interacting with Influencer's and Student's from China, that are living in the UK, has been the best insight before launching Benny Hancock FOR MEN into China. Market research on your product offering is essential as it gives you confidence that you are making strong decisions for the market you are entering into. Just because a specific product or shade works in the UK doesn’t necessarily mean it will be successful in China. I recommend everyone does market research like this before entering into China!"
- Benny Hancock, Co-Founder, Benny Hancock - FOR MEN (participant in Meet the China Influencers session)
“Umberto Giannini were delighted to join CBBC in their influencer session as part of China Consumer 2022. It was a pleasure to spend time with both Influencers and students and we gained invaluable insights regarding market appetite and positioning for our brand in China.”
- Jo Butcher, Commercial Director, Umberto Giannini (participant in Meet the China Influencers session)
