Roundtable Meeting of HM Trade Commissioner and CBBC Members

Apart from the HM Trade Commissioner, HM Consul General of the British Consulate-General in Guangzhou, Matt Moody, the Economic Consul, Will Kennedy, and a representative from Department for International Trade (DIT) also attended the meeting.
CBBC member companies participated in the meeting, including Walgreens Boots Alliance, RELX, Arup, HSBC, Standard Chartered, Thoughtworks, and Savills among others.

John Edwards gave a briefing about the DIT’s recent work, shared his thoughts about the challenges of UK-China trade and investment, and thanked CBBC for the work it has done in facilitating trade and investment between the UK and China. John emphasised that CBBC and the British government should work closely to serve both UK and Chinese companies.
Matt Moody introduced DIT’s 2023 work plan in southern China and shared the news that two British airlines have resumed flights between UK and China.

Each representative from CBBC member companies gave an introduction about their companies’ business in southern China and raised points for discussion with John Edwards and Matt Moody.
At the end of the roundtable meeting, John Edwards and CBBC members expressed that the information they collected was helpful and insightful.
