He highlighted that logistics and shipping firms are often seen as being catered to “big business” but with the rise of technology, SMEs are now given increasing access to global markets. He also talked of a revolution in supply chains given that digitalisation is driving unprecedented visibility, predictability and speed of trade.

To round off the session CBBC’s Supply Chain & Logistics Sector Lead, Alex Makino-Farrell, led a discussion on what supply chain stakeholders are facing in this evolving global marketplace; safety and security was an issue raised and as a result the means to circumvent risks.
