CHINA TRADE TRACKER RELEASED | ISSUE 12 – November 2025
The China Trade Tracker, launched by CBBC in 2021, serves as a reference tool offering detailed facts and figures on UK-China trade, with a particular focus on British regional exports. It draws on HMRC data compiled by CBBC.
Key Highlights
- UK goods exports to China (including Hong Kong) increased by 6.4% to £22.6 billion in the four quarters to Q2 2025, reversing a 1.2% decline the previous year.
- The UK’s largest regional exporters to China were the East Midlands (£4.0 billion), the West Midlands (£2.8 billion), London (£2.8 billion), the North West (£2.1 billion), and the South West (£2.1 billion).
- The fastest export growth came from Scotland (79.0%), the East Midlands (43.9%), and the South West (20.0%).
- Petroleum became Scotland’s leading export to China, rising from negligible levels to £738 million, while seafood exports grew 83.0% to £107 million.
- The South West recorded its fourth consecutive year of export growth to China and surpassed £2 billion for the first time.
- The East of England saw growth in seven of its eight leading exports to China and remained the UK’s largest exporter of pharmaceuticals
