CBBC speaks at Invest Beijing event in London
On 11th June, CBBC attended and delivered a keynote address to the Invest Beijing's delegation visit to London.
The event, supported by Dentons LLP, Bank of China and CBBC, took place at Dentons London office and welcomed over 20 business people for an introduction of Beijing's business environment, and in particular what specific districts are doing to foster a strong environment for companies coming into China.
The afternoon was kicked off with opening remarks from Zhu Min, Chief Market Officer, Bank of China (London Branch), he highlighted how Bank of China has played a role in opening up of China and is committed to helping businesses exploring market entry.
CBBC Executive Director, Lise Bertelsen, followed his introduction to deliver a keynote address, which highlighted how CBBC has been supporting the trade relationship between the two countries for over 70 Years, last year we saw record levels of trade so the opportunity is there for the taking. With the UK and China being the 6th and 2nd largest economies in the world, the are vast mutual benefits for maintaining strong business co-operation.
Following CBBC, key speeches where delivered by Zhu Sheng, Deputy Director of Beijing Investment Promotion Center, Richard Barham, Partner, Dentons LLP and Stephanie Betant, Head of GTRF, HSBC UK. These remarks set the scene for the current landscape and how this has evolved over the years as well as presented case studies of business who have successfully utilised Beijing's landscape to build their overseas business.
Following this Mr Zhu introduced the representatives of 4 core districts of Beijing; Yang Jinge, Deputy Director of Dongcheng District Investment Promotion Service Center, Shi Xiang, Director of Fengtai District Investment Promotion Service Center, Yang Li, Deputy Director of Chaoyang District Investment Promotion Service Center, He Jianwu, Director of Haidian District Bureau of Science, Technology and Economic Information, Director of Intellectual Property Bureau.
This allowed attendees a deep dive of each district and the measures in place that are aiming to build confidence and encouraging fair competition amongst key areas and sectors.
Finally, the session ended with an opportunity for attendees to speak with the delegation and each other in a networking session.
