CBBC Speaks at China International Fair for Investment and Trade
Chinese and Foreign Investment Promotion Agencies Conference 2023
The 2023 Conference of Chinese and Foreign Investment Promotion Agencies took place on September 9 in the morning. Speaking at the event were Chen Chunjiang, Assistant Minister of Commerce of China, and Wang Jinfu, Vice Governor of Fujian Provincial Government.
"At CBBC, we believe there is great potential for further cooperation between the UK and China if both countries play on their respective strengths to mutually work towards a sustainable future," said Tom Simpson, Managing Director, China, CBBC, during his speech.
Invest in China Year - Green Development Seminar
The Invest in China Year - Green Development Seminar, another parallel event of CIFIT, was held on September 8. The event was attended by Zhu Bing, Director of Department of Foreign Investment Administration, Ministry of Commerce, and Ma Xiuhong, Chair of China Council for International Investment Promotion.
During the discussion on "Practicing Green Development Philosophy to Promote Balanced, Coordinated, and Inclusive Economic Growth," Tom Simpson stresses the importance the of the green transition.
“The green transition is now a central feature in the global strategies of British business with China and other major economies featuring prominently and, in many cases, acting as the source for the innovation of ideas and technology.”
Exchange Conference on International Cooperation Parks in National Economic and Technological Development Zones
On September 8, the Exchange Conference of International Cooperation Parks in National Economic and Technological Development Zones was held at CIFIT. The event was hosted by Department of Foreign Investment Administration, Ministry of Commerce, and organised by Green Partnership of Industrial Parks in China.
“Although investment activity in other areas has cooled somewhat since the peak years of the Golden Era, the UK continues to see investment activity from China most notably in areas such EV battery technology and renewable energy. Recent examples include Chinese EV battery producer Envision’s investment into a gigafactory in Sunderland as part of the Nissan EV plant located there or Red Rock Power who have invested into one of the largest operational offshore wind farms in Scotland,” Tom Simpson said.
