CBBC Holds Business Dialogue with Shanghai Vice Mayor Hua Yuan
The China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) held a business dialogue with Shanghai Municipal Government and met with Hua Yuan, Vice Mayor of the Shanghai Municipal Government on Wednesday, 6 March in Shanghai. The dialogue was hosted in partnership with the Shanghai Commission of Commerce.
Tom Simpson, Managing Director, China, China-Britain Business Council, led a delegation of CBBC member companies and delivered an opening speech.
"We believe the Chinese market remains a place British companies can continue to be successful long-term. Opportunities for British business to engage senior leaders such as today’s play an important role and will have an impact on both resolving the issues raised but also sending a clear message across our networks that business is being engaged constructively."
Present at the meeting were CBBC member companies including Diageo, IHG, Jaguar Land Rover, John Swire & Sons, Johnson Matthey, Reckitt & Manon, Schroders and Standard Chartered.
Vice Mayor Hua Yuan addressed each of the UK companies individually during the exchange, and concluded by highlighting the significance of maintaining a regular communication between the Shanghai government at the municipal and district levels, CBBC and British companies.
