The Chinese Burns Supper - Event Highlights:

Sir Sherard Cowper Coles Speech at the event

CBBC Chair, Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles welcomed guests to the 10th annual Chinese Burns Supper with an opening speech ringing in the Year of the Rabbit. He emphasised the value of Scotland-China cooperation and the opportunities this presents for both countries in 2023 and beyond.

We were also delighted to have the Depute Lord Provost, Bailie Christy Mearns share Robert Burns' poem: The Selkirk Grace at the event. 

Haggis

CBBC's Commercial Director of Industrial Economy, James Brodie shared a rendition of Robert Burns' Address to a Haggis in both Scots and Mandarin - an annual tradition for CBBC's Chinese Burns Supper.

halla

Journalist, Halla Mohieddeen delivered The Immortal Memory - a celebration of Burns' enduring spirit at the event.

Consul General

Acting Consul General Mme Hou Danna delivered a special Chinese New Year Address for guests, exploring the Chinese traditions associated with the Year of the Rabbit.

Guests enjoyed an eclectic mix of Chinese and Scottish entertainment.
