CBBC Deepens Our Partnership with Beijing Daxing District

Through the programme, CBBC together with Beijing Daxing Investment Promotion Service Center and our stakeholders across Daxing District will continue to advance our work promoting Beijing as a favorable destination for UK investment.

Over the years, CBBC and our member companies have worked closely with the Beijing Municipal Government, including Daxing District, across many key areas. We look forward to continuing to contribute towards the on-going efforts to optimise the business environment and were delighted to see Beijing listed as the number one business environment in China by the World Bank for the previous two years running. This is testament to the Beijing Government’s collaborative approach to supporting businesses here, whether domestic or foreign.
Kiran Patel, Senior Director, China-Britain Business Council
I would like to thank Beijing Daxing Investment Promotion Service for the invitation to work as strategic partners – as we collaborate even more deeply to showcase the competitive strengths of Daxing District to UK businesses. Daxing District is a key focus for British business as it combines one of the most economically significant areas of Beijing with ambitious development plans. CBBC is committed to championing the most effective platforms and incentives that align with the interests of UK businesses and now that China's borders are open, leveraging these for maximum impact.
The array of new policies and incentives created by the Two Zones Pilot program will generate new opportunities for UK business and programs such as the Daxing District Global Cooperation Programme will help to unlock this potential. British Airways for example was the first international carrier to relocate its Beijing route and flight operations to Beijing Daxing International Airport with the inaugural flight touching down in November 2019. Direct flights with British Airways to Beijing Daxing International Airport will resume four times per week from 3rd June providing direct connectivity once again between the UK and Beijing.
CBBC believes that the UK as a global leader in key areas such as financial services, healthcare and life sciences, advanced manufacturing, energy and environment, and consumer sectors, will continue to play a key role in the development of Daxing District and we look forward to working with our partners there.
Business Opportunities with CBBC
The reopening of China in 2023 has been swift, and CBBC is already seeing a growing interest from companies and institutions of all sizes and from all sectors to visit the China market once again – exhibit their products and services, explore partnerships, and move forward their China growth strategies.
It has been an encouraging sign for CBBC to be welcoming representatives from UK businesses and organisations into our offices across China for meetings and briefings; and vice versa, the level of interest from our stakeholders across China to visit the UK; re-establishing dialogue and showcasing platforms and models for collaboration has been a very positive development.
At CBBC, we are generally optimistic and despite a degree of caution as critical infrastructure and mechanisms to facilitate trade are such as travel are re-established, UK businesses seem to share our sentiment. Recently in the buildup to the CBBC China Business Conference 2023 we ran a flash survey to benchmark interest and viability for China market visits in 2023. From 80+ respondents, 70% declared strong intentions to travel to China for business purposes throughout 2023 with nearly 28% undecided at this stage.
