CBBC Chair Visits Shanghai and Meets with Vice Mayor Xie Dong
Meeting with Shanghai Vice Mayor Xie Dong
Embarking on the first day of the visit to Shanghai, the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) Chair Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles met with Shanghai Vice Mayor Xie Dong on Wednesday 22 November in Shanghai.
Present at the meeting were Duncan Clark, Vice Chair, CBBC, Andrew Seaton, Chief Executive, CBBC, and Tom Simpson, Managing Director, China, CBBC. During the meeting, Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles emphasised CBBC’s determination to make its endeavour to maintain a healthy and stable bilateral trade link, and expressed CBBC’s dedication to collaborate with Shanghai under the MoU signed with InvestSH.

Subsequently, Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles and the delegation visited Fosun, a premium member of CBBC, where they were hosted by Thomas Tam, Co-Chairman of GreaterYuGarden Commercial Properties Group.
UK Invest Roundtable
Continuing their visit, CBBC hosted the UK Investment Roundtable, bringing together a group of existing and potential Chinese investors in the UK. The roundtable aimed to gain insights from Chinese investors on the UK as an investment destination, in terms of both opportunities and challenges. Additionally, CBBC shared how CBBC and its members could support Chinese investors in doing business in the UK. Attendees included Chinese investors Fosun, Nanjing Jufeng, Yigu Tech, Zero Carbon System, along with CBBC members DLA Piper, Deloitte, PwC, and KPMG.

In the following morning, on Thursday, 23 November, CBBC's Chief Executive Andrew Seaton departed for Ningbo and visited the future factory of Orient Cable, and explored ways to support Orient Cable's growth in the UK.
CBBC's Chair Visit (20th-29th November 2023)
The Chair of the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles, and Chief Executive, Andrew Seaton, commence their visit to China from 20th-29th November. The visit will cover Shenzhen, Shanghai, Jiangsu province, Beijing and include a range of meetings with senior Chinese Government officials as well as events to engage with CBBC Members and stakeholders across China.
