On Monday, 27 November China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) Chair Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles, met with Vice Premier He Lifeng at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. They discussed international cooperation in supply chains, as well as UK-China economic and trade cooperation. Sir Sherard is visiting China as part of a ten-day programme including attending the first China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing.

The meeting was also attended by Andrew Seaton, Chief Executive, CBBC, Tom Simpson, Managing Director, China, CBBC, and senior representatives from CBBC member companies including HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Jaguar Land Rover, Walgreens Boots Alliance, AstraZeneca, GSK, and abrdn.  

During the meeting, Sir Sherard reflected on the growing levels of trade between the UK and China and the importance of engagement at all levels of the relationship.  

Sir Sherard also shared the views of CBBC members towards China’s investment environment and the importance of establishing a level playing field for foreign investors – welcoming the recent measures released by China’s Ministry of Commerce.
