During the meeting, Liao Min warmly welcomed Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles and his delegation, recognising the valuable role of CBBC in fostering UK-China economic and trade relations. Both parties exchanged views on the planned relaunch of the Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD) in January 2025, stressing the importance of achieving significant commercial outcomes, particularly in finance, trade, and investment.

Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles reaffirmed that CBBC will continue to advance bilateral trade and investment, supporting British businesses in expanding their presence in China, and encouraging Chinese firms to invest in the UK. He expressed CBBC and member companies' anticipation for the resumption of the EFD. Sir Sherard also underlined London’s status as a global financial hub and the critical role of the financial services sector as the backbone of UK-China economic relations in shaping the next chapter of this partnership.
