Meeting with Lu Shan, Vice Governor of Zhejiang

Sir Sherard stated, "Many CBBC members have investments in Zhejiang, and some find their home in China here. Meanwhile, we are pleased to see that many local companies are expanding their investments in the UK. CBBC will continue to grow and develop our engagement with Zhejiang, as well as promote the two-way investment."

Meeting with Liu Jie, Party Secretary of Hangzhou

During the meeting, Sir Sherard shared CBBC’s prospects for UK-China economic and trade cooperation. He expressed, “We look forward to following up on today’s exchange over the coming months and working together with the Hangzhou municipal government to enhance engagement both in China and in the UK.”

Also attending the meetings were Matthew Burney, British Consul-General, Shanghai, Peter Burnett, Head of Corporate Finance (Greater China & North Asia), Standard Chartered Bank, and incoming Chief Executive, CBBC, Tom Simpson, Managing Director, China, CBBC. Additionally, other participants included senior executives from member companies including AstraZeneca, bp, Clifford Chance, Deloitte, HSBC, IHG, RELX, Schroders, Standard Chartered. 

During their busy itinerary in Hangzhou for a day, Sir Sherard and the delegation also visited Geely and Alibaba.
