CBBC Chair & Chief Executive Arrive in China

This week, the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC)'s Chair, Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles, and Chief Executive, Andrew Seaton, arrived in China to begin their first visit since late 2019. The visit will cover Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou between 17th-26th May and will include a range of meetings with senior Chinese Government officials, as well as events to engage with CBBC Members and stakeholders across China.

CBBC Chair attends Greater Bay Area (GBA) Working Group Preparatory Meeting in Shenzhen

The first stop on Sir Sherard’s visit to China took him to Qianhai, Shenzhen, where he attended the CBBC Greater Bay Area (GBA) Working Group Preparatory Meeting on Wednesday, 17th May.

Also attending the meeting were WANG Jinxia, Deputy Director of Qianhai Authority, Matt Moody, Consul General, British Consulate General Guangzhou, and Tom Simpson, Managing Director, China, China-Britain Business Council.

During the working group preparatory meeting, Member companies including HSBC, RELX, SWIRE, Standard Chartered Bank, Thoughtworks and IHG shared their thoughts and expectations for the working group. CBBC’s GBA Working Group aims to promote greater collaboration between the UK and the GBA in across key sectors through advocacy, cooperation with local partners, and sharing the latest research and information on the region.

CBBC signs an MoU with Qianhai

After the roundtable, CBBC signed an MoU with Qianhai, which represents an important step in the strengthening of cooperation between Qianhai, a key region in the GBA, and the UK.
