CBBC Celebrates Our 70-Year Anniversary in Shanghai
The event brought together over 160 guests, including representatives from CBBC’s East China member network, senior UK and Chinese government officials, and executives from major Chinese companies with strong business ties to the UK.
Among the distinguished guests were Huang Yuefeng, Deputy Director-General, European Department, Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (MofCom); Zhou Minhao, Chairman, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Shanghai; He Dongbin, Vice Chairman, Shanghai Commission of Commerce; Lewis Neal, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for China, and government dignitaries from Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang ,Anhui and Beijing.
The evening began with a warm welcome from Peter Burnett, Chief Executive of CBBC, highlighting the organisation’s 70-year history of promoting business relations between the UK and China. Peter remarked that: “Business ties between the UK and China continue to grow and are now at record levels. CBBC will continue to provide a range of services to UK business looking to invest and trade with China as well as support for our broad network of member companies.”
Lewis Neal, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for China, emphasised the importance of the economic ties between the UK and China, noting: “CBBC plays an important role in linking businesses with the government here in China. Over the next 70 years, I am optimistic about continuing to support UK businesses in growing and investing in China, fostering Chinese investment in the UK, and helping UK companies collaborate with Chinese businesses globally.”
Zhou Minhao, Chairman, CCPIT Shanghai acknowledged the crucial role CBBC has played in strengthening the UK business presence in Shanghai and added : "The business community is a driving force and promoter of China-UK trade cooperation. Looking to the future, CCPIT Shanghai will actively establish high-quality platforms for trade and economic exchanges, contributing to the healthy development of economic and trade relations between China and other countries, including the UK."
