On the 22nd September, the Intellectual Property Office’s China team will run another webinar for UK businesses and rights owners. Guest speakers will provide practical tips on how best to protect and enforce your IP in China’s online and offline marketplaces.

For this session, we will be joined by Mick Ryan, Director of Brand Protection, Platform Governance at Alibaba. Mick will introduce the Alibaba’s intellectual property protection portal (“IPP”), which covers all of the company’s platforms. He will also introduce the newly launched “Simp’Ali” tool, which enables SMEs to navigate and more easily use the IPP.  


The session will also feature Sophia Liu, Senior Associate at Gowling WLG. Sophia works on the frontline of IP enforcement in China, helping a wide range of foreign companies to protect their IP rights both online and offline.

As the Senior Intellectual Property Officer, he leads the Attaché team’s business-focused activities, briefing British stakeholders on the IP landscape in China and providing strategic 1-2-1 IP advice.
