speaker

Mark Kramer, Partner - IP Solicitor, Potter Clarkson

Mark is an experienced IP lawyer advising on both contentious and non-contentious issues across the full gamut of IP rights.

Mark joined Potter Clarkson in 2021 to head up the firm’s London litigation & licensing team. His clients range from multi-nationals to start-ups and individuals, but all appreciate his clear, commercially focussed, advice.

Mark has represented clients before the Court of Appeal, the High Court, and IPEC. However, much of Mark’s work has an international focus and he has strong experience of ‘quarterbacking’ international disputes. Mark’s contentious experience covers the full range of IP rights. His recent ‘hard IP’ contentious experience includes preparing a global litigation and commercialisation strategy for an entrepreneur in the telecommunications security space, assisting an innovative Chinese consumer goods client with enforcing its UK patent portfolio as part of a wider European strategy, and supporting a national retail company against accusations of patent infringements against a notorious and well-funded NPE in the lighting space. On the ‘soft-IP’ side, Mark has supported clients from sectors as varied as financial services, green-tech, FMCG, and aviation in protecting their brand rights and creativity.

Mark has significant non-contentious experience in sectors including life sciences, FMGC, software, telecoms, travel, retail, and the creative industries; he works in tandem with clients (often collaborating closely with the firm’s leading patent and trade mark attorneys) to ensure the contractual nexus around their IP best supports their commercial and developmental goals.

Mark is the head of the firm’s Creative Industries group. He regularly speaks on IP issues and runs a termly pro bono clinic for students and alumni of the Royal College of Art.
