China Tomorrow - Building innovation links between the UK & China

Organised by the China-Britain Business Council and the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills and with the support of UKTI, the main aim of the China Tomorrow initiative is to promote joint innovation development opportunities between UK and Chinese enterprises by:

- Raising interest.
- Increasing awareness on how to collaborate successfully on technology development / technology transfer and innovation - for example, by showcasing existing collaborations.
- Increasing the capabilities of UK companies to work jointly with Chinese partners.

Senior speakers from the economic powerhouse of Chongqing will participate at these events - from the Science and Technology Commission, the High-Tech Incubation Centre, the Intellectual Property Bureau and New North Zone - to provide an informed and valuable insight on the situation 'on the ground' in China.

The goal of China Tomorrow is to help provide the opportunity for increased engagement and cooperation and to develop & grow profitable, sustainable business for the economic benefit of both countries - something that is of increasing importance in the current economic climate.

Sustainable Cities Initiative: Briefing & Focus on Wuhan BIS Conference Centre, 1 Victoria St, London SW1H 0ET

UKTI's Sustainable Cities Initiative with Wuhan and Chongqing is up and running. The aim of the Initiative, which is underpinned by Memoranda of Understanding with both cities, is to develop commercial opportunities for UK and Chinese companies in the fields of sustainable and environmental technologies. The Memoranda cover a wide range of sectors for cooperation ranging from emission reductions and air pollution control, to urban regeneration and land reclamation, to renewable energies and water, and wastewater management and treatment.

UKTI's Dr Jianxi Cheng who heads the Initiative in Wuhan and Ms Tina Redshaw who oversees the Initiative from our Embassy in Beijing will be briefing companies on the Initiative.

CBBC is pleased to announce that the Wuxi municipal government will be hosting a creative industries investment promotion seminar in London on Thursday, 3rd September. The seminar will be hosted by a senior official from Wuxi Municipal government, who will also be accompanied by business and government delegation.

The second conference of the International Forum for Contemporary Chinese Studies (IFCCS), organised by the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Nottingham along with its China Policy Institute and the Nottingham Confucius Institute will be held 7 - 9 September.

The aim of the Forum is to bring together key research institutions, scholars, policy-makers and industry leaders world-wide to facilitate the exchange of research and policy ideas related to China and its relations with the rest of the world.
