A Strategic Platform for UK-China Collaboration

Jiangsu remains one of China’s leading destinations for foreign investment and is home to a strong concentration of British investment across advanced manufacturing, financial services, healthcare and life sciences, professional services and technology sectors.

Suzhou has emerged as one of China’s key centres for advanced manufacturing, innovation and international business engagement. The city has increasingly become a key landing point for UK businesses in East China looking to leverage its geographical location, industrial capacity, and supportive local polices.

Building on this momentum, and CBBC’s long-standing engagement with government stakeholders and business communities in the UK and China, CBBC and Suzhou New District jointly launched the Suzhou UK Business Centre in May 2025. In January 2026, an MoU for the UK-China Business & Innovation Hub was signed during Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit to China — reflecting growing support for deeper UK-China commercial cooperation and paving the way for the formal launch of the Hub today.

Supporting Business Growth and Innovation

Designed to provide practical support for businesses navigating the UK and Chinese markets, the Hub links CBBC’s national network across China and the UK with policy engagement, market advisory and partnership-building support, alongside flexible business facilities.

The Hub will provide practical support for UK and Chinese companies, including:

  • Market-entry and soft-landing support
  • Flexible office, meeting and event facilities
  • Business matchmaking and stakeholder engagement
  • Policy insights and market advisory services
  • Exhibition and product showcase spaces
  • High-level meetings, dialogues and exchange activities
  • Talent development and collaboration programmes

Bringing together Suzhou’s industrial strengths and regional advantages with CBBC’s role as a bridge between the UK and China, the Hub aims to support a broad range of activities, including investment promotion, innovation incubation, industrial collaboration, policy dialogue, cultural exchange and talent development.

Over the coming years, the Hub is expected to host a series of sector-focused programmes, business delegations, innovation exchanges and networking activities, further strengthening commercial and institutional links between the UK and China.
