Introducing the Chinese Shakespeare Supper and the UK-China Business Awards 2026

For 13 years, CBBC has organised a fusion of Robert Burns Night and Chinese New Year celebrations: The Chinese Burns Supper. For the last 9 of these, it has also been the platform on which the China-Scotland Business Awards have been presented.

Partnering with LSE’s Confucius Institute for Business London who are celebrating their 20th anniversary, in 2026, we are taking the same format of a culturally-rich business awards night to the UK level with the inaugural Chinese Shakespeare Supper and UK-China Business Awards. Timed to fall between the date of Shakespeare’s birth - April 23rd - and China’s Dragon Boat Festival, it will be held on Thursday 21st May directly beneath Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in the Underglobe.

The event will celebrate the many innovative ways that Shakespeare has been translated, interpreted and shared with China, and vice-versa. It will be at once a celebration of UK-China cultural understanding, collaboration and Business success.
