Lovibond / The Tintometer Limited

Lovibond Tintometer is a leading global manufacturer of water quality and colour measurement products with over 130 years of history. The Tintometer story was created by its founder, Joseph Williams Lovibond, who came up with the idea of using glass to achieve consistent and constant colour standards. Over the following decades, this concept was developed into a unique colour scale for measuring each colour accurately and is now recognised and adopted worldwide as the global standard including in China.
Lovibond Tintometer decided to enter the China market in 2010. Instead of establishing an entity, they chose to utilise the CBBC Launchpad service enabling them to explore and develop the market through a risk-free approach. The first team member was selected and recruited by CBBC to implement their China strategy and was assigned the following responsibilities:
- Liaising with and communicating with partners in China.
- Conducting market research and marketing activities.
- Assessing the capabilities of Lovibond Tintometer’s customers/suppliers and distribution network.
- Ensuring consistent quality control of products/services.
- Bridge and lead communication between the Lovibond Tintometer UK team and the China customers.
Since joining CBBC Launchpad in 2011, Lovibond Tintometer’s China business has developed steadily. Its China revenue takes a large share in its global total revenue in the colour stream. This success has been achieved with one single representative based in China up until now demonstrating that this strategy has been successful and offers further room for growth in the medium to longer term.
