The China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) is delighted to announce the launch of our China-UK Green Manufacturing Report, in partnership with the Department for International Trade (DIT) of the UK government, and the Centre for International Economic and Technological Cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (CIETC-MIIT).

By providing a high-level yet comprehensive look into the green manufacturing sector of China and the UK, the report aims to boost trade, investment, and international cooperation between the two countries.

Green Manufacturing Report Launch China

China-UK Cooperation on Green Manufacturing

To recap the green manufacturing developments of China and the UK to date: the UK was the first major economy to pass an economy-wide net-zero emissions law, which will see the UK reduce all greenhouse gas emissions to net-zero by 2050. Green manufacturing and clean growth are at the heart of the UK’s Industrial Strategy. Meanwhile, China is the world’s largest manufacturing economy and aims to reach peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

China and the UK are the largest and ninth largest manufacturing countries in the world, respectively. Despite both countries having made great efforts in developing the green manufacturing sector, there remains a lot of potential for growth and cooperation.

Overview of the China-UK Green Manufacturing Report

The China-UK Green Manufacturing Report will help UK and Chinese policy makers, researchers, and industry professionals to understand the relevant market trends, government policies, standards, and regulatory regimes. It gives an overview of the UK and Chinese green manufacturing sectors, explores the scope, characteristics, and respective advantages of green manufacturing in the two countries, details mechanisms for cooperation, raises relevant case studies, identifies opportunities, and provides suggestions for governments at all levels, industry players, and researchers so as to strengthen trade, investment, and international cooperation between the UK and China in the field of green manufacturing. The ultimate goal of the report being to help accelerate the future development of the green manufacturing industry and strengthen international cooperation.

In summary, the report will provide insights into the following aspects:

  • Overview of cooperation and opportunities in green manufacturing between China and the UK
  • Green manufacturing in the UK
