You are cordially invited to our CBBC member event to get to know the latest information about UK higher education and visa updates. This will be a good chance to learn about the recent status about international student enrollment during the pandemic, tips for international students to accommodate in the UK, the latest updates and case studies on visa application process, the options after studies and UK boarder health measures.
According to a recent report released by UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service), applications to UK higher education institutions, notably those from Chinese mainland applicants, increased across the board in 2021. As of June 30th 2021, more than 28,000 Chinese mainland students had applied through UCAS to British universities, increasing by 44% compared to 2019 applications and directly exceeding the total applications from 27 EU countries.
This was driven in part by the British government's encouragement of Chinese students applying to the UK. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has projected a strong welcoming attitude to international students since coming into office, as seen by the July 1st resumption of the PSW graduate visa, which allows graduated students to remain in the UK longer even without a job offer.
With this mass influx of interest from Chinese students in exploring the educational opportunities that the UK has to offer, questions emerging in the face of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic need answers more than ever. With the new semester just around the corner, many parents and students are still concerned about the impact of COVID-19 and how they will cope with overseas study in the UK. Therefore, CBBC is organising an education and visa update seminar to help you in addressing these concerns.
We aim to provide attendees with the latest practical guidance and visa updates for the upcoming UK academic semester. This will be an ideal opportunity for you to gain insight and valuable advice into vital processes to aid your international students applying and moving to the UK to study during these uncertain times.
During the seminar, UK Visa & Immigration officers will share the latest visa policies, offering a direct UK government perspective on the Graduate Route, visa application process, UK border health measures, and other student-related matters.
Index Education, known for its widespread collaboration with UK universities on student recruitment, will also shed some light on the macro-level impacts of COVID-19 on the enrollment of international students coming to the UK.
Finally, a speaker from Downing Students, which has extensive experience in supporting international and especially Chinese students, will share some useful guidance for students seeking safe and suitable accommodation in the UK.
Representatives and practitioners working in UK Higher Education are all welcome to attend.
