Joint Educational Institutes ("JEIs") and Joint Educational Programmes ("JEPs") in China are primarily governed by the 2003 Regulations, the 2004 Implementation Measures and ongoing guidance from the Ministry of Education, which are periodically updated. In the current political environment, UK universities are seeking greater clarity to enable timely adaption and to effectively identify and manage potential risks.
In this two-part webinar series, we will provide an overview of the current regulatory landscape and explore practical areas for managing operational and financial risks.

In Part 1, we will focus on policies. This session will outline the current regulatory landscape, latest key policy developments affecting JEIs and JEPs in China and discussing their implications for UK universities. We'll also demonstrate how special policies are implemented in Hainan.

Session 2 - 9 July 2026
In Part 2, we will focus on implementations. This session will cover key cross-border legal and tax considerations from application to operation. We will review recent case studies to illustrate how current policies are applied in the application of a JEI/JEP to the Ministry of Education, managing hidden financial costs and mitigating compliance risks.
