As one of China’s four municipalities directly under the central government, Chongqing is a key engine of Western China’s development. In 2025, Chongqing’s GDP reached approximately RMB 3.37 trillion, achieving around 5.3% year-on-year growth, with a resident population of about 31.9 million. Per capita GDP has surpassed RMB 100,000, reflecting continued economic upgrading.
