Navigating China’s 15th Five-Year Plan: Economic Outlook and Policy Priorities

The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee will be held in October, during which proposals for formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development will be discussed. At this critical moment — as proposals for the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan are being considered— this webinar will analyse the economic outlook and policy priorities that are informing the plan’s drafting. Our aim is to help multinational companies identify opportunities and challenges in China over the coming years, and to navigate domestic transformation alongside a shifting global environment.

We are delighted to welcome Mr. Feng Chucheng, Partner at Hutong Research, as our keynote speaker. His briefing will cover:
China at a pivotal moment as the 15th Five-Year Plan will be launched: the economy is shifting from manufacturing and export-led growth towards consumption and innovation, urbanisation is moving from rapid expansion to steady development, industries are embracing the rise of artificial intelligence, while the second Trump administration is reshaping the global landscape. Balancing domestic economic priorities with international trade challenges will be a central task for the new plan.
Implications of a major economic transformation: Over the past decade, China has developed globally competitive industries with distinctive national characteristics. How the country strikes a balance between industrial development, technological innovation, and pricing pressures will influence — and in many cases determine — the opportunities and challenges multinational enterprises will face in China over the next five years.
