Antoaneta Becker, Director, Consumer Economy, China-Britain Business Council

Antoaneta has lived and worked in China for more than 20 years. In her most recent role as Director, Consumer Economy for the China-Britain Business Council, she has supported numerous British consumer companies entering and expanding into the Chinese market.

Prior to joining CBBC, she worked as a Beijing-based reporter for several international media publications including the Economist Intelligence Unit and USA Today, covering China’s economic and social affairs. She has reported on some of the main trends and policies that have defined China’s economic trajectory over the years 2000-2010, including China’s state-owned enterprises reforms, the emergence of free trade zones, the rise of digital economy and the ascendence of the Chinese consumer.

Antoaneta is a fluent Mandarin Chinese speaker. She holds a Bachelor’s in Chinese Language and Literature and a Master’s in Chinese Contemporary Literature & Film from Peking University.

Simon Mitchell

Simon Mitchell, Co-Founder, Sybarite

Simon co-founded Sybarite with Torquil McIntosh in 2002, their steely focus has always been retail architecture and design and more recently hospitality and lifestyle. Simon has a collaborative working style and is instrumental in the fostering of the culture of Sybarite where work-life balance remains at the core. Sybarite has delivered 2,800 projects to date, amongst those, retail and experiential concepts and designs for notable brands and retail operators of varying scales from monobrands through to master planning. The successful repositioning from Shin Kong Place to SKP in China has resulted in a No1 global department store ranking. Project locations include Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu and soon to launch: Wuhan and Hangzhou. In addition to SKP, Sybarite creatively directed and conceived SKP-S, an ongoing next generation retail concept. The pipeline continues throughout China. Simon maintains a close relationship with Sybarite’s clients in Asia and Saudi Arabia, namely CR Land, Swire and Hongkong Land, The Public Investment Fund (PIF) and KAFD. Simon is a regular contributor and opinion leader for a host of conferences, discussions, and futures as well as being an active business mentor.

With previous experience in financial services and luxury hospitality, in-depth knowledge of emerging markets in Greater China and SE Asia; and highly skilled in developing and retaining ultra-high-net-worth clients, sales and marketing, PR and partnerships, Champa has nurtured strong relationships with high-net-worth and influential individuals as well as high-end partners to promote Bicester Village and Anglo-China business links.

William Lyon, CEO & Co-Founder of ArcOn Brands

William lived in Asia for over twenty years, speaks Mandarin, and holds a B.A. (Hons) degree in Modern Chinese Studies from the University of Leeds. He started his career at Jardine Matheson, where he spent over 12 years. Prior to launching ArcOn Brands, William founded his first business by launching the Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group and Fortnum & Mason in Greater China.

William co-founded ArcOn Brands in February 2020 with the goal of helping the best brands in the world to grow in the Asia Pacific markets. ArcOn Brands is the Asia office and brand partner for leading consumer, hospitality, and lifestyle brands.
