Tommy XIE
Head of Asia Macro Research, Managing Director, Global Markets Research & Strategy, OCBC
Tommy Xie joined OCBC Global Markets in January 2008 as the economist for Global Markets Research & Strategy. He is responsible for the Greater China economic and market research and currently heading the Asia macro research team for OCBC Group.
Tommy is also a member of OCBC Wealth Panel. He is a member of content committee for Singapore’s Annual FutureChina Forum. His views are regularly cited in both English news wires such as Reuters, Dow Jones, Bloomberg and the top tier Chinese news wire such as People’s Daily, Xinhua, and Lianhe Zaobao. He is also the bilingual regular commentator on the televised media such as CNBC, BBC, CCTV, Phoenix TV and Channel News Asia etc. Tommy is the co-author of the commemorative book celebrating the 35th anniversary of the China-Singapore diplomatic relationship published in 2025.
Prior to joining OCBC, Tommy worked for the government agency and financial institution in London and Singapore. Tommy received his MSc in Economics from University of Leicester in the UK. He is also a chartered Financial Risk Manager (FRM) as well as a member of Mensa.
