CBBC Member Briefing with Matt Burney
朝阳区朝阳门外大街16号 中国人寿大厦1001室 英中贸易协会北京代表处
The importance of soft power continues to rise, with its impact on diplomacy, aid, business and trade being seen and felt. It is a valuable asset many countries seek to accumulate as the world becomes more interconnected, ideas and values compete, and collaboration on shared challenges becomes essential. For the UK, as it “tilts” towards the Indo-Pacific and revises its approach towards China, soft power will be an essential driver of positive perceptions, favourability and influence that will support trade, prosperity and understanding as the world recovers from the global pandemic.
In this session Matt Burney, Director British Council and Minister Education and Culture, British Embassy, will provide an update on British Council’s priorities this year. Members will also hear trends impacting UK-China people to people relations and plans to support a New Era of UK-China People to People relations from Matt.
This is a hybrid event, members based in Beijing are welcome to participate offline at our Beijing Office.
