The 2010 China Business Climate Survey

The 2010 China Business Climate Survey from Britcham and CBBC was published in late October to coincide with the Prime Minister's visit to China and the UK-China Business Summit.

Key findings show respondents are:

  • Positive about macro outlook
  • Optimistic about company performance in China
  • Revenues and hiring will be on the increase - but compensation levels too
  • R&D investments expected to increase - ahead of investments in plant & machinery
  • HR issues are most important for business performance, ahead of regulatory issues and market access
  • Pollution and the environment cause the greatest dissatisfaction, followed by bureaucracy and IPR

In particular 36% of respondents expect demand for their products and services to increase significantly while 44% expect a more modest increase. And 25% of respondents saw their performance in China as in line with that in other markets, while 30% saw it as above average and 21% as significantly above average.
