Support British creativity in China this year
The British Fashion Council is going to China and is seeking sponsorship
Why is this sponsorship opportunity exciting?
- This is the first official foray by the BFC into China.
- The PR around BFC events is always exceptional (they organise London Fashion Week twice a year).
- Last year Vogue Editors and British film stars were involved with the BFC's LONDON show ROOMS. The BFC will invite and attract a similar audience in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. (Anna Wintour, Angelica Cheung, Emma Watson have been involved, see below).
- Your company could co-brand with extraordinary British designers and prestigious Chinese partners, in a year when creativity hits the spotlight in China.
About the LONDON show ROOMS
The British Fashion Council will take LONDON show ROOMS to Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong and is looking for serious commercial partners. LONDON show ROOMS (LSR) was first launched in 2008 and has become a vehicle to promote British designers overseas. Its aim is to showcase emerging designers to international markets each season. Last year over 1000 media and buyers attended the showroom in Paris and 250 attended the press showroom in New York. For the past three seasons, US Vogue and Anna Wintour have supported LSR New York by hosting the official launch cocktail party with Emma Watson in 2010 and Georgia Jagger in 2011 to promote the Best of British Talent to the US. In Hong Kong Angelica Cheung, Vogue China Editor, hosted an LSR afternoon for celebrities and socialites. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the first official foray by the British Fashion Council into China, to work with prestigious local partners and to develop the audience for British designer fashion.

About the British Fashion Council
The British Fashion Council (BFC) promotes leading British fashion designers. Its events and initiatives support and strengthen the UK's reputation for developing design excellence. Key events in the BFC calendar are London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Awards. Harold Tillman CBE, the dynamic Chairman of the British Fashion Council (who also chairs Aquascutum and Jaeger) recently brought Samantha Cameron on board as a BFC Ambassador. Harold will be leading on this project. Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, said of Harold "His retail flair and business acumen are the perfect foil for the astonishing creativity of our fashion designers. As well as maintaining London Fashion Week's position as one of the most influential international showcases for design, he has been pivotal in the BFC's efforts to nurture up and coming designers."
The China/Britain Fashion Alliance

The China/Britain Fashion Alliance is a combined initiative between the British Fashion Council, Beijing International Brand Management Centre (BIBMC) and CBBC to promote British fashion in China, showcase fashion designers in China, foster mutual cooperation and collaboration, open strategic and economic dialogue for regular exchange at senior level and provide strategic guidance to the development of fashion in China.
The Alliance was launched in June 2011. Members of CBBC and CEAB were joined by fashion designers who listened to Harold Tillman, Chairman of the British Fashion Council, Jaeger and Aquascutum make the keynote speech. Director Xu Jing of Beijing International Brand Management Centre (BIBMC) also spoke and launched the new China-UK Creative Cooperation Office.
Harold said: "In the UK, Fashion is an industry worth £37 billion and is a jewel in the crown of British creativity. It employs over a million people but also does so much to raise the creative reputation of Great Britain on a global scale. There are opportunities all over the world for us, but no more so than in China... London is a creative powerhouse and China is the manufacturing powerhouse – if we combine these two things we believe great things can happen."
One initiative of the Alliance is the new China-UK Creative Industry Cooperation Office, established in London in 2011. This was the first international office for BIBMC and we are delighted that they chose London! This Chinese government office aims to support and promote, with the help of CBBC and under the auspices of MOFCOM, British design in China.
