CBBC at the Summit - Inside Insight from Stephen Phillips
"The mood of the business delegation accompanying the Prime Minister is very upbeat" comments CBBC's Chief Executive, Stephen Phillips. On Monday Dr Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills signed key agreements with Zhi Shuping, the Minister of AQSIQ (Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine) that will protect Scotch Whisky and allow the export of British breeding pigs to China. Dr Cable also met with MOFCOM Minister Chen Deming for the Joint Economic and Trade Commission talks, where a wide range of business issues were discussed of relevance to both UK and Chinese businesses. CBBC was represented at these talks by Stephen Phillips.

With a significant business delegation, including a huge number of CBBC members and, of course, Sir David Brewer, CBBC's Chairman, David Cameron arrived in Beijing this morning. The business delegation attended a meeting at the Great Hall of the People with Premier Wen and Prime Minister Cameron, at which Premier Wen took a number of questions from the delegation. The warm and cordial atmosphere at this meeting fed through to a sumptuous banquet for the business delegation and two leaders. In the evening British and Chinese businesses enjoyed a networking reception at the British Embassy to meet the ministerial delegation. The programme tomorrow includes a major business summit and a CBBC/Britcham dinner with Dr Vince Cable. Further details and reports will follow.
