2010 China Business Climate Survey from Britcham and CBBC

The publication of this survey coincides with the UK-China Business Summit. Key findings show respondents are:
• Positive about macro outlook
• Optimistic about company performance in China
• Revenues and hiring will be on the increase - but compensation levels too
• R&D investments expected to increase - ahead of investments in plant & machinery
• HR issues are most important for business performance, ahead of regulatory issues and market access
• Pollution and the environment cause the greatest dissatisfaction, followed by bureaucracy and IPR
In particular 36% of respondents expect demand for their products and services to increase significantly while 44% expect a more modest increase. And 25% of respondents saw their performance in China as in line with that in other markets, while 30% saw it as above average and 21% as significantly above average.
