Qingdao, which is home to the world-renowned Tsingtao beer, is hoping to create a dedicated site for the annual international beer festival. The idea is to create a beer festival site that is used the year round, not just for the two weeks of the festival. The site will include shops, business centres, hotels and resorts all around the theme of beer. The project is being funded by Shanghai Industrial Investment (Holdings) Co and should be finished in five years’ time. The site should be able to cope with 10 times the number of visitors who come for the beer festival each year.
