Chunhui Cup


About the competition 
The Chunhui Cup is a competition for Chinese students overseas which has been held annually since 2006, co-sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science and Technology and organised by CSCSE.  

Its goal is to boost entrepreneurship among Chinese students and to pave the way for them to establish high-tech enterprises when they return to China. In 2014, some 260 projects were entered in the competition. 

The competition covers eight fields: electronic information; biomedicine; culture, creativity and modern services; energy and efficiency; optical manufacturing; new materials, resources and the environment; and agricultural science and technology.

China UK Entrepreneurship Challenge

The China UK Entrepreneurship Challenge aims to encourage new business ventures between China and the United Kingdom, and is intended to simulate the real-world process of entrepreneurs seeking start-up funds from early-stage investors and venture capital firms. The competition is part of the PMII (Prime Minister Initiative II) Connect project, supported by the British Council and the Confucius Institute programme funded by Hanban.

The competition is open to university teams – both students and post docs – in the UK and China. If selected, teams will compete for:

  • £14,000 in cash prizes
  • £500,000 investment opportunity for the best business plans 
  • A possible free work space in London for up to one year provided by Cocoon Global Ltd

Shenzhen Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition


The First China (Shenzhen) Innovation & Entrepreneurship International Competition is guided by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC, the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, P.R.C, sponsored by Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, and hosted by Longgang District People’s Governmentof Shenzhen Municipality, Pingshan District People’s Government of Shenzhen Municipality, the Human Resources and Social Security Administration of Shenzhen Municipality and the Science & Technology Innovation Committee of Shenzhen Municipality. In response to the call for “mass entrepreneurship and innovation by all” and as guided by the concept of an “international, high-end,market-driven and professional” competition, the Competition aims to provide a development platform for talents to learn from each other and to innovate.

The Competition is open to all high-caliber overseas talents and projects regardless of nationality. The Competition will offer generous awards totaling RMB 9,120,000 Yuan to the winners. Single competitors can be awarded up to RMB 1,250,000  (government subsidies andventure capital investment not included). 60 venture capital institutions willbuild a venture capital pool amounting to RMB 700 million  for portfolio investment in winning projects. All entries can be linked with the service platform via corresponding competition investment and gain outside investment opportunities. Meanwhile, they will also be invited to attend The Conference on International Exchange of Professionals held in China. 

In addition, this competition will also offer supporting policies in talent management incentives, industrial incentives, technological finance, project incubation and others.

HiStar Innovation and  Entrepreneurship  Competition


About the competition
The HiStar Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition aims to stimulate scientific innovation and
accelerate start-ups. All innovators or start-up teams will be given access to leading authorities from academia, industry, commercial enterprise and business from both China and the UK. Our partners include more than 10 accelerators and at least 30 venture capital firms/trusts based in both China and the UK, with additional support from the government of Beijing, Hangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong and numerous China based industrial parks. Innovators are welcome to participate in one of two challenges in the following areas:
i)    Big idea
ii)    ii) Start-up
