Member event series on Digital China launched with Webinar with DP World Asia
On 28th May the China-Britain Business Council officially launched its
member event series on Digital China
. We were thrilled to be joined by
Andrew Hoad, CEO and Managing Director
DP World Asia
, to talk about the impact of digital technology on the supply chain industry.
Following the welcome remarks of Adriaan Commandeur, CBBC Executive Director; Mr Hoad took to the virtual floor. He provided a compelling take on the impact that E-Commerce has had in driving consumer behaviours and in turn, how DP World are developing digital initiatives to provide increased value and efficiencies in the supply chain network.
He highlighted that logistics and shipping firms are often seen as being catered to “big business” but with the rise of technology, SMEs are now given increasing access to global markets. He also talked of a revolution in supply chains given that digitalisation is driving unprecedented visibility, predictability and speed of trade.
To round off the session CBBC’s Supply Chain & Logistics Sector Lead, Alex Makino-Farrell, led a discussion on what supply chain stakeholders are facing in this evolving global marketplace; safety and security was an issue raised and as a result the means to circumvent risks.
