Guangzhou-Britain Trade Connecting Conference

The Guangzhou Bureau of Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation (BOFTEC) is leading a trade delegation of 40 Chinese companies to attend and exhibit at the Spring Fair International Trade Exhibition.

In conjunction with the delegation’s visit, Guangzhou BOFTEC, in cooperation with the CBBC, have organised this Guangzhou-Britain Trading Connecting Conference on 11.30 – 14.00, 8th February to showcase the Chinese companies and their products offering. The Chinese companies represent a cross-section of Guangzhou brands for kitchen and tableware products, stationery and gifts, household articles and electronic products. You will also have the opportunity to meet senior officials from Guangdong provincial Guangzhou government.

RMB vs US$: Mutually assured destruction seminar Bloomberg Auditorium, London

North Square Blue Oak and First China Invest invite CBBC members to a seminar discussing what China will do with the RMB and its foreign exchange reserves. First China Invest’s Chairman Mr Derek Han is consultant to several Chinese government bodies, such as the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE). He will present his in-depth knowledge of both sides of the debate. The issue will be discussed further by First China Invest’s Chief Executive, Heng Deng, and Head of China Research at North Square Blue Oak, Miranda Carr.

In this second Made in China seminar in partnership with HSBC, quality & safety inspection services provider Intertek and transport & logistics firm DSV, the selection and characteristics of good Chinese suppliers will be highlighted. Systems and processes to ensure supply-chain efficiencies, maximise revenue and increase the likelihood of receiving goods on time and according to required cost and specification will be covered.

The on-going management of suppliers in relation to negotiation, new product development, cultural challenges and communications will also be discussed.

China Tomorrow event: Building Innovation Links between the North West of England & China

The China Tomorrow initiative aims to better equip organisations in the UK and China to work together on a wide range of innovation & technology projects and to commercialise the outputs.

Following previous events in London, the East Midlands, Wales, Shanghai and Yorkshire & Humber, the next event - supported by the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills and the Northwest Regional Development Agency and hosted by Daresbury Science & Innovation Campus - will address the processes and issues involved in working collaboratively on projects related specifically to environmental technologies and sustainable development.

Sustainable Cities Initiative: Briefing – One Year On in Wuhan with Dr Cheng Jianxi
Central London location

UK Trade & Investment’s Sustainable Cities Initiative encompasses 3 Chinese cities of Wuhan, Chongqing and Changsha. The aim of the Initiative, which is underpinned by Memoranda of Understanding, is to develop commercial opportunities for UK and Chinese companies in the fields of sustainable and environmental technologies, ranging across industries of urban regeneration, land reclamation, renewable energies, water, wastewater management and treatment, and emission reductions. Dr Cheng Jianxi has been on placement for one year, leading the Sustainable Cities Initiative in Wuhan, and will be briefing companies on his findings and opportunities for future partnerships and collaborations.
