Latest research finds significant opportunities in China’s Regional Cities

Our latest research on the opportunities for British businesses in China’s regional cities was launched on 26th September by John Hutton MP, Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform in Beijing.

The research, delivered for UK Trade & Investment by CBBC and the University of Leeds, investigates the rapid development of China’s regional cities, and identifies those cities that offer the best opportunities for UK businesses.

Based on detailed statistical analysis, in-market interviews and survey of companies and trade promoters operating in China, the report found a wide range of opportunities across a broad number of sectors.

The report highlights a list of 35 cities, and maps out the best business locations for UK companies, in terms of:
  • Local sales
  • Production to supply domestic markets
  • Production to supply export markets
  • Research and development activity
The research also evaluates the opportunities presented by these cities for UK companies in seven priority sectors, namely:
  • Advanced Engineering
  • Energy
  • Environment and Climate Change
  • Financial and Professional Services
  • Infrastructure
  • Information Communication Technology
  • Life Sciences
