Jeff is based in Shanghai, but his role as Executive Director covers the whole of China. He has a wealth of business, management consultancy, research and corporate training experience, and his 20-year career includes trade and product marketing, business analysis, market analysis, international business development, and financial management. He has 15 years’ experience working in the Asia-Pacific region, with the last six years in China, in the education, media, entertainment, and sports & leisure sectors. Before Shanghai he worked in London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Shenzhen.

Antoaneta Becker is the China-Britain Business Council regional manager for the South West and acts as UKTI’s China Business Adviser in the region. Antoaneta studied at Peking University – China’s most prestigious university, obtaining a BA and MA in Chinese language and modern literature. After graduating Antoaneta joined the Economist Intelligence Unit, the research arm of the Economist. Based in Beijing but travelling all over the country, she spent 12 years reporting on China’s macro-economic trends, doing field work in different regions and researching specific industries and companies. Antoaneta is a fluent Mandarin speaker. Sectors of particular strength include creative, media and publishing, culture and heritage and retail/e-commerce.

With more than 15 years’ experience in the China market, Lise Bertelsen has worked with a wide variety of companies, organisations and government departments within a broad range of sectors, both in China and the UK. Located in CBBC’s London office, Lise advises companies of all sectors throughout London and the South East, but has a particular focus on Low Carbon, Environment and Water. Lise graduated from London University’s School of Oriental and African Studies with a BA Honours Degree in Chinese.

Dr Giles Blackburne is Executive Director, China Outbound at China-Britain Business Council and also oversees CBBC’s network of offices across the North of the UK. Giles is responsible for CBBC’s China Outbound programme which links Chinese investors to projects in the UK and encourages UK-China collaboration in third countries. Giles graduated in Chinese Studies at the Polytechnic of Central London in 1989 and attained a PhD in international business and economics at the University of Leeds in 2015. He has worked for CBBC for nearly 20 years and during his career has also lectured in China related topics at the universities of Glasgow, St Andrews, Nottingham and Leeds.

James Brodie is the Manager, Scotland and China Business Adviser for the China-Britain Business Council. A fluent speaker of Mandarin, James returned from working in China in July 2012 where he had held positions in a variety of sectors, ranging from contemporary art, through education and most recently petrochemicals. James lived in Beijing from 2006-2012 but has travelled extensively on business throughout China, serving as an interpreter and cultural adviser to foreign companies, a role he has also performed for Chinese companies ‘going global’. James has a BA (Hons) in Chinese Studies from the University of Sheffield. Located in Edinburgh, James covers Scotland.

Nathalie Cachet-Gaujard is Director Education and Innovation at the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC). Nathalie has over twenty years of experience in international business development. She started her career lecturing at the University of Salford and the University of Xiamen in Fujian. She then moved to industry, holding senior international management positions in the software and telecom industry and was based in Beijing for two years. Prior to joining CBBC in 2014, she worked for five years at the University of Central Lancashire, developing global partnerships spanning from teaching and research to projects with industry, with much of her time spent in China. Nathalie holds Masters degrees from the University of Haute-Alsace, France and from the University of Salford, UK, and is a fluent speaker of Mandarin.

Holly joined CBBC in 2000. She manages a portfolio of cross-sector research projects with her team in Beijing, and personally leads CBBC’s biggest research projects and events. She has worked with a wide range of UK companies in the agriculture sector, assisting them with trade in China and interaction with government bodies. Holly previously worked at a Sino-British joint venture beer brewery. She learned about malting barley at Herriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and is also trained in ISO9000 implementation. Her first degree was in American and British Literature. She is an avid gardener and enjoys visiting British flower shows.

Patrick Chen is Project Manager in CBBC’s East China team. He has a sector specialism in Advanced Engineering, as well as experience with imports of FMCG products. Patrick has a proven record advising UK companies looking to develop their businesses in China. Before CBBC, Patrick worked as Trade & Investment Officer at UKTI (British Consulate Guangzhou), where he led “high value opportunity” projects such for large UK engineering firms. Patrick also spent four years at Mass Transit Railway in Hong Kong as a management trainee. Patrick obtained his master’s degree in Management Science & Engineering from Tsinghua University, and has a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. In his spare time, Patrick has completed several cycling tours in China, including the Tibetan Plateau Region.

Chris has a BA Honours degree in Chinese Studies. He was based in Hong Kong for six and a half years, where he worked for the world’s leading B2B trade show organiser, organising many events in mainland China in collaboration with Chinese partner organisations from both industry and government. In the UK Chris has worked in a senior business development role for the examinations and qualifications division of the University of Cambridge, where he grew the organisation’s business in mainland China. Chris began working at CBBC in 2005 and was promoted to Director in 2007. As well as his senior management and regional commitments, Chris is the lead in the UK for CBBC’s activities in the Life Sciences (Healthcare, Pharma, Biotech).
